Dallas couldn't help but blush slightly, though he was smiling as she spoke. The possessive statement was unexpected, but not unpleasant. In fact, he rather liked Grace classifying him as her personal knight. He didn't mind being considered hers in any way. "I don't mind being a person knight for you. I'll gladly take the title since I like it so much," he returned. His cheeks were on fire, but Dallas' eyes were genuine. Yes, he liked Grace as more than a friend, but he had no idea how to broach that subject. Or if she even felt the same way. The next words out of her mouth, however, made him pause. Did she mean that the way it sounded? After letting the pause hang in the air for a few seconds, he finally swallowed so he could speak.
"You...like me?" he managed, though it sounded lame when he said it out loud. Dallas figured she meant it some other way, but he couldn't stop himself from double checking. Holding her close like this, everything that happened at the dance, it really showed him that maybe Grace wasn't just a friend after all. "Just like you'll always be beautiful." It was a simple fact, and his tone was matter of fact when he said it. Even amongst all the craziness, Dallas still liked having something normal, so he didn't mind discussing classes and whatever else. "That's nice of them. Not every school would be so sympathetic," he mused. His eyes held sadness, though not directed at Grace; it was the situation he was sad about.
