Amara, Niko, & Tegan
Tegan might have been sweet and innocent by nature, but she wasn't stupid. And she loved her boyfriend, but as she had discussed with both Detroit and Mika, Niko was oblivious 90% of the time. And he was a typical man, which meant he didn't over think these things and what they meant. Like bringing his phoenix girlfriend to such an important ball. What that signaled to the royals and the elite attending. Tegan had met his mother before and the woman terrified her. Of course she did, she was a fierce Queen, who had, in Tegan's view, made it clear that she was not her choice for her son, who would one day rule in her stead.
Tegan had gone shopping with first Detroit, but had quickly realized this was not going to impress their mother. So she'd gone to Mika to have her help her find something she'd never actually pick out for herself. The white gown hugged all her lean curves, the draping flattering her exquisitely, falling down her delicate shoulders, all her intricate tattoos shown off to perfection. The high slight was daring, showing all those tattoos on her long legs, but somehow with her perfectly styled elegant blonde hair she looked delicate and elegant and she felt beautiful. Niko had been stunned by the look and she felt confident and beautiful.
That was until now. Her expressive colorful eyes moved between her mate and the elegant and intimidating lady who was greeting Niko, but pointedly ignoring her. Normally that didn't bother Tegan, as she was used to it. But the way this lioness, Amara she learned her name was, looked at Niko ruffled the little phoenix's feathers. And as Niko greeted her, there was a familiarity, affection there and she wanted to demand why she'd never heard of this beautiful 'good friend' in the five years they'd been dating. The way Niko kissed the back of her hand in his so softly almost took her breath away and she almost lost herself in those blue eyes as they looked at each other, so obviously besotted with each other. The soft smile that crossed her lips at him spoke volumes to their relationship.
Tegan held her delicate tattooed hand out to the gorgeous lioness and smiled brightly even if she immediately wanted to pull Niko away from those possessive and hungry eyes hidden under demure lowered lashes.
"Its lovely to meet you," Tegan replied her voice sweet and light, even though this intimidating young woman had been ignoring her until she couldn't any longer, not without being rude in front of Niko. And when those eyes cut to her, there was a coldness that Tegan knew Niko wouldn't see, in the way they sized her up and cut her down without a word. Tegan wrapped her arms around Niko's arm and kept that smile on her lips as she spoke again, voice still sweet even as a well concealed verbal dagger slipped into her next words to the lioness.
"Its lovely to meet such a good friend of Niko's from back home," she smiled. "What a shame this is the first time I've met you in the five years we've been together." Tegan might have been sweet and innocent, but her best friend was Detroit Salem and she had claws when she needed them. Tegan smiled charmingly at her and then cast her colorful eyes up to Niko still smiling.
"Its so lovely to meet your old friends, my love." The phoenix pressed her lips to the corner of his lips. Yes she was being territorial, which wasn't like her, but the mate bond had brought more of that out of her recently.
