WHO: Jewel and Cris WHEN: September 23rd, evening. WHERE: Jewel’s room WHAT: Cris finds a very important thing.
It had been a long day, which wasn’t something Jewel thought often. She generally kept a rather upbeat attitude, but there were times when things just continually pressed down and beat on her until she felt like she had nothing left. Most of the time, not being able to see like everyone else anymore didn’t bother her. It had for a long time after her accident, but eventually the anger and bitterness had faded. Today, she had tripped over a new item of furniture in a friend’s dorm that didn’t have enough use to even create a signature for her to pick up yet. Her friend, while typically very conscientious, hadn’t thought to warn her, which was an honest mistake. Unfortunately, it only started her on the path to wallowing that the rest of her day was more than happy to add to.
After several other incidents, including a new student mocking her for grabbing the wrong piece of equipment in her science class, Jewel was emotionally drained. She felt sorry for herself for the first time in years, and retreated to her room after the day ended without hesitation. She knew where everything was here, knew nobody was going to be around to remind her that she wasn’t normal. Deciding she needed to relax and wash the day off of her in order to get over it, Jewel headed for the bath. It was the perfect place to reset, and being in water always made her feel better. The selkie slipped off the bracelet she always wore around her left wrist, which was more important than anyone knew and usually never left her body. It was her pelt, the skin that was her essence and a very essential part of her. The skin that could trap her to someone forever should they get a hold of it. Her mother had explained when she was very young just how important it was to not let anyone know what the bracelet was let alone allow someone to touch it. Not only could someone bind her to them for as long as they wanted if they had it, but since it was essentially part of her touching it could also inspire intense feelings of need and desire and even pleasure. This was amplified if it was someone she had feelings for and vice versa, though Jewel had never allowed anyone she was seeing to touch it in order to see if that was true or not.
Setting the bracelet on her bed, she forgot that she’d told Cris to come over for dinner and hanging out, letting him know that her door would be unlocked in case she wasn’t back from her last class in time to open it for him. He usually waited in her room, even if her roommate wasn’t there, which Jewel didn’t mind in the slightest. Pinning her hair up in a clip, she headed to the bath, shutting the door behind her and slipping into the water with a satisfied sigh.
