Marty had started to wonder if he was ever going to see the beautiful redhead again, honestly. While he had seen Dae quite often since the night of the supermoon, the gorgeous little fae had never come with her boyfriend in tow. At first, the genie had opened the door every time she visited with hope in every feature of his face, though gradually that had faded. He was an optimistic person in some respects, but even he couldn't keep thinking that the other man would come after awhile. Marty had come to the conclusion that something he had done on the supermoon, some part of him was wrong. He had made Carmine uncomfortable, he had disgusted him in some way, whatever. The bottom line was, he wasn't wanted. He wasn't good enough. Just like his parents had always told him.
Despite the sting of such a realization, Marty did enjoy his time with Dae. She was a beautiful ray of light, something he truly didn't understand how it even existed, and the time spent with her was like a balm on his soul. The two talked about a lot of things, did a lot of things, but Marty never allowed himself to be totally complacent. He knew that she loved Carmine, and eventually she was going to return to him and forget about the wayward genie they had met at a carnival on Halloween. It was what should happen, honestly, so Marty was determined to savor and enjoy every single second he had with her while he was lucky enough to have it.
He had completely forgotten about the comment he'd made to Dae asking that she apologize to Carmine for him at this point, and was just lounging in his room when the knocks sounded at his door. Thinking it was the beautiful blonde, Marty climbed to his feet, barely pausing to pull on a tank top before he pulled open the door. His movements froze as he took in the familiar red head before him, and he couldn't help the way his sea-green eyes widened in absolutely shock. He couldn't seem to shake himself out of it, at least not at first, though he felt a sense of foreboding as Carmine said he wanted to talk. The genie's stomach clenched, and despite the next words out of the other man's mouth, he was convinced that he was here to tell him to leave Dae alone and stop getting in between them. Or maybe he had figured out that Marty was a fake, not a real man, and that was why he had regretted their night together.
"Um, sure. Of course," he finally managed. "Come in," he added, moving back so the other man could step inside.
