Brea continued to move his hands through her hair and down her back, though he pulled back a little as she started to actually explain. With every word that left Logan's lips, he could practically feel her fear and desperation. His stomach lurched as she explained what a star hunter was, the word 'butcher' making him flinch. The fact that one of these guys had killed their mother was disturbing enough, but hearing the why filled him with a sense of disgust and dread he hadn't ever felt before. Which was saying a lot considering how much he and his sister had gone through at their last school. His own gaze shifted to Colt for a moment, as if hoping his expression would illustrate that it wasn't actually as bad as it sounded. The horror there only made it feel worse.
Still, Brea pushed his own feelings aside as she broke down in tears again for several long moments after she finished talking about what had happened to her mother. His arms wrapped around her, though he was still a bit shell-shocked by all this news. Luckily, Brea was a pro at compartmentalizing, and filed the shock away in order to focus on the more pressing matter at hand: finding Corey.
"It was the same one?" Fuck, why did fate hate these beautiful and kind girls so bad? Shaking his head, he held tight to Logan, hoping she didn't resist too much. "I think you should wait here," he said gently, prepared for the look he got and the immediate protest he could see in her eyes. "I don't want you to get hurt. If this guy is after...your benefits..." He honestly couldn't bring himself to say 'parts'. It sounded so vile, so horrifying. "He might have others helping him. He's obviously no novice if he tracked you two all the way from South Africa," he went on, running a hand through her hair tenderly. "Please. I couldn't bear if something happened to you too." Brea's eyes were fixed on hers, pleading with her to understand.
"I promise we'll bring her back," he said, eyes shifting to Colt who was impatiently out the door and practically vibrating with the need to get moving. Brea leaned in to kiss her gently. "I love you. We'll find her," he said before moving towards the door and hoping she didn't follow.
