Tay really only noticed the nurses because there was more than one of them. They were bustling, clearly responding to the monitors that were showing Vi's very obvious reaction. He turned to look over his shoulder at them and they seemed to understand. The nurses were well aware of what had happened after all. The head nurse simply nodded. she might have said something but honestly, Tay didn't hear it. He had already turned his attention back to soothing Vi.
His hand on her cheek kept her from shaking her head again. He really didn't want her throwing her head around too much. The whimpering sound she made sent a dagger through his heart and he honestly didn't know how he was able to keep focused. But he had too. he needed to focus on Vi right now.
"I know baby," he told her softly, "It all happened so fast there really wasn't time to think." His hand moved over her cheek as he held tightly to her hand. He couldn't keep the sadness and despair out of his eyes as much as he knew she didn't need to see it. But he couldn't stop his own tears from starting again as hers did. For now, they just needed to cry together. Tay leaned down to rest his forehead against hers. Honestly, it was the most comforting thing he could think to do, for both of them.
