Who: Van and Callum Where: Gramercy Park Hotel - NYC When: 9 pm Friday Night What: A script reading gets a little out of hand
To say that it had been a hell of a day would probably be an understatement. It had been an extremely rough day. Of course, I had actually been planned to be a busy day. The plan had involved multiple time zones, three different flights, and multiple meetings. It started waking up in a hotel in LA where she had a stupidly early photo shoot and then flying to San Francisco for a contract meeting and then that was SUPPOSED to be followed by a flight to NYC where she was supposed to be doing a script read through for the movie with Callum. Why these all had to be on the same day was actually kinda beyond her. It was practically BEGGING for something to go wrong.
Which of course it did. It started alright. She had stayed in LA to be on set for the photoshoot just before dawn. The photo shoot was followed by a plane ride nap to San Fransisco. Not that the hour-long flight was anywhere near long enough to make up for the pre-dawn wake-up call. Van was already grumpy as she was ushered to another car. She wasn't even handed caffeine damn it! To be honest, she was only half paying attention during the contract negotiation. She let her manager handle most of it. Which really only strengthened her opinion that she did not need to be there. An assistant FINALLY handed her a coffee as Van was ushered back out to the car to head back to the airport. AND that was when things had gone wrong. They arrived at the airport to the notification that a massive storm had formed in the middle of the country. The flight would be delayed. Which was about when her grumpy mood became obvious. the most important thing of the day was the script reading with Callum and that was the thing she was going to be late for?! Her was uncharacteristicaly moody as her assistant fussed around trying to fix it. Van had had an hour of padding time between when she should have arrived in NYC and the read through. the hour quickly disappeared as she furiously texted with both the director and Callum.
It was three hours later before Van was finally able to board her flight. The schedule for the film was already tight and a complete rescheduling of the script would stress it even more. She had assured the director it wasn't necessary as she texted with Callum. It was just the two of them. They could meet up when she arrived to read through everything, especially since they were staying at the same hotel. She sent him an eta when the announcement was finally made for taking off. Van then promptly fell asleep. her assistant woke her forty-five minutes before landing. which allowed her to show up at the hotel with her hair and makeup looking like she hadn't just woken up, and wearing a fresh outfit (with two extra buttons actually closed). She checked in to her room quickly and deposited her things even faster. She grabbed only her clutch and script as she left to go to Callum's suite.
She was earlier than her eta but honestly, Van hadn't even looked at the time. She hadn't even stopped to text him that she had landed. Having slept for the 6-hour flight she was in a much better mood. Of course, that might also be associated with the idea that she was about to see Callum. He had a knack for making her smile. She tucked a piece of blond hair behind her ear as she reached his door. She knocked quickly ignoring a group of whispering patrons as they passed her.
