Their eyes met and there was nothing but sadness in his eyes. Sadness and exhaustion. There was no spark of love in his eyes. It was so different than how he used to look at her. The look on his face... the feelings that came off of him.. all of it seemed to scream that she really had ruined it all. Still, she needed to try.
Her eyes flickered between his face and the floor for a moment before he stepped back to let her in. even in his room, the feelings didn't change. if anything they were stronger. the tension was so thick and she couldn't find any words. How could she fix this? She had hurt him so much so many times. And this time... She knew it would be something Fabian struggled with. she didn't honestly know if he would ever not struggle with it. When she finally found words they were soft and shaky. Adelaide's voice rarely showed her emotion. even when she cried her voice was steady. She couldn't manage that now as she apologized. she was practically begging him to accept her apology.
It surprised her when he finally moved. he was suddenly close and his arms wrapping around her. she sighed softly through her tears at the feeling of being in his arms. It felt like coming home. All the anxiety and fear seemed to quiet for the first time in weeks. She wrapped her arms around his waist as she buried her face in his shoulder. Her tears still fell through in a mix of relief and true regret that she had done so much damage. She just wanted to stay like this, wrapped in his arms where nothing could touch them. Even as her tears started to slow she didn't pull away from him. There were things they should talk about but she wanted nothing more than to avoid them in favor of staying wrapped in his arms.
