Roxy & Katryn | Day After Game Ends
"Of course Theo was executed for daring to love me, his soulmate, because he was also my guardian. But truthfully this was about me: putting me in my place." The princess looked away then, her hand hold on Roxy lessening but she didn't let go.
"Perhaps they had heard whispers of my ambitions, perhaps they just wanted to use me as they chose, either way, the day they beheaded my soulmate and my twin sister, they signed their own death warrants." Katryn stared off into the distance a moment, the emotions at her lost loved ones, on her face, before she spoke again.
"You are in control of your destiny, Roxanne Christalle. You get to choose the path you take." The white haired fae turned back to her, eyes back on her face, previous emotions gone, but a softer light was in her eyes, understanding.
"Our people need strong leaders. I will be that for them." She could see it in Roxy's eyes she expected her to tell her what she kept hearing, that it was time to step up, to do better for her people, but that was not what Katryn had to say to her.
"You do not need to be that Queen, Roxy." The elder princess knew she was saying so many things that Roxy needed to hear, hadn't ever heard. "Which ever path you choose, I will help you. You are not alone." Entwining her fingers with Roxy's, Katryn held their hands up, their contrasting skin almost a metaphor for their courts.
"We are not enemies. The light needs the dark to shine bright. We need each other. It is in our best interests to help each other."
Katryn was silent for another long moment before she spoke again. "I'm helping you because I can see how deeply you're wounded. How broken you feel and that nothing conventional will soothe that ache, that devastating agony you try to ignore. And I know it. I can give you the closure you desire."
