Roxy & Katryn | Day After Game Ends
It was clear that this was the first time someone had ever told Roxy that she didn't have to be that girl anymore. Almost as if she was the only one to give her permission not to pretend anymore. She was sure people had told she wouldn't be the same anymore, therapists, maybe well meaning friends, but it wasn't the same as telling her it was okay not to be the girl they had all loved.
The elder princess noticed the visual changes in Roxy when she mentioned the cabin and she knew she'd hit the nail on the head. Something more had happened to her, more then the obvious things, the things she'd told, that they'd all shared. As she raised those grey blue eyes to Katryn's dark ones, she held them as the Seelie princess asked her why she would help her. Katryn was silent for a long moment as Roxy clutched her hands in hers. Gently Katryn took one of her hands away and smoothed Roxy's hair from her face, clearly seeing all the emotion, how hard this was for her.
"Because you are my baby brother's soulmate." The Unseelie princess said it simply, as if it was obvious. How could it not be obvious to anyone with eyes? "Because Kanye is the only thing left in this world that I love, and he loves you." Katryn wasn't going to lie to the girl, she didn't need lies, she needed to hear the truths.
"Because I will be Queen and I need you to make my baby brother happy. To take care of him so I can focus on doing what needs to be done to secure my throne."
It was common knowledge that there were at least four other Rock's in line before Katryn, and if they had children in the future, even more then that. But she held Roxy's eyes and let her see, that there was no doubt that Katryn would be Queen of The Unseelie. Slender fingers traced along Roxy's delicate cheekbone then fell away before she took back the other hand, trusting her with this knowledge. And Roxy would know how big of a deal that was.
"Your parents have betrayed all the Shining Court stands for and so they have been cursed with only having one child." Katryn didn't flinch from delivering such harsh judgement of the King and Queen of the Seelie. "Now they seek to bind a neutral elemental to their house and court against her will." The Unseelie princess continued to speak to the other princess candidly, knowing that giving her this trust, that it would prove to her Katryn's motivations and intentions, with no hidden agenda.
"My parents," the word 'parents' was said with such distain and hatred, "Have made the choice to follow the same path." The princess had always had designs on the throne, but had been content to just be with her lover, her soulmate. Dark eyes fastened to Roxy's lighter stormy ones.
"My sister and my guardian did not perish of their wounds in the attack on this school last year. They were executed-" the fae paused. "Murdered, by The King and Queen of The Unseelie Court." She watched the horror and disbelief flood Roxy's eyes. Katryn continued answering Roxy's unspoken questions before she could ask them.
"Theo and I were lovers, soulmates as well as guardian bound." She let this secret sink in, clearly it was a surprise to Roxy, but then again she probably could see it in hindsight. Before the Cabin, Roxy had been very astute about people. "And for the crime of daring to love who she loved, L'erin Tosh - a shifter, which is one of our fundamental laws, Kiera was beheaded." Katryn remained unflinching as she spoke these revelations.
