Re: Bailey & Saylor | Day Two - Afternoon
More than anything, Saylor wished that it had been him that had gotten the dare. Not because he didn't think Bailey was strong enough to succeed, if anything all this revealed that she was far stronger than most people. She had survived something that he could only imagine would break a lot of others. No, he wished it had been him just so she wouldn't have to relive and revisit all this in such a brutal, cruel, public way. He'd spare her any type of pain if he could, and he could see she was in a lot of pain at the moment. It made his heart hurt.
Saylor didn't know who Riley was, but the confusion didn't bother him the way it might bother some. He could piece together enough of a story to know someone in Bailey's family had taught someone to use a gun and then instructed them to shoot Bailey and whoever Markus was. The story wasn't important right now anyway. Saylor's focus was only on getting her through the dare. They could figure out the rest later. "That's okay. Just do your best," he assured her, still somehow managing to sound soothing and calm despite the fact that they were discussing shooting him. Saylor had never been shot, but he had seen and heard enough shootings in his neighborhood growing up to not really fear them as much as he probably should. "I'll make sure to stand close so you won't miss accidentally and fail the dare," he added, not really sure on the mechanics of shooting but figuring closer had to be better.
"I promise," he said gently when she asked, giving her another gentle kiss. When Bailey asked why he trusted her, his smile bloomed for the first time since she'd run out of his room. "I trust you because I love you," he answered simply, kissing her forehead before tucking a bright red strand of hair behind her ear. Saylor stepped back then, but only far enough to be sure she could aim yet not miss. "Now go on. Don't be afraid."
