Re: Tiar & Kennedy | Duncan's boat - Anchored in a private cove on the lake
“No, I don’t. Never again,” she said, shivering as she remembered that night all too vividly. “I don’t want any of this,” she added softly. It wasn’t that Kennedy didn’t enjoy her powers, at least to an extent. The extra connection to water, the strength she felt from it, it was thrilling. Exciting. Even fun. And it wasn’t that she wasn’t used to having people expect things of her or to have them watching her. She was a royal, that was basically her entire life, though at least in her family she’d always considered herself pretty much invisible. There were too many other, more exciting ones to look at. Until she’d become the elemental. Suddenly, all the focus was on her, and a whole lot more pressure to boot. Saving the world sounded glamorous when you weren’t the one actually having that weight thrust upon you. Add to that the fact that her powers were capable of some volatile and dangerous things and Kennedy had reached the limit on what she could handle. She just needed a break.
Thinking about all that while she was still relatively in the circle of Tiar’s arms left her feeling a little off balance. This stupid game could not have come at a worse time, though the siren had to admit that she’d reallt rather it not have come at all. She could still distinctly feel that fear, that certainty, that she was going to die once she refused. She could remember how it felt to fade, and it wasn’t something she would soon forget. And of course, Tiar wasn’t finished talking about it either. The siren nearly rolled her eyes as he spoke again about her being “more important”, though she was too tired and her emotions too raw to really commit to the irritation. In fact, Kennedy was more concerned with hiding the fact that his continued mentions of how everyone else needed her alive stung. A lot. She didn’t want him, or anyone, only wanting her alive purely because her powers were needed for some big master plan. It hurt, more than she cared to admit, and that hurt even took away from the tingling sensation and feeling of warmth that usually came with such a tender touch as his hand against her cheek. Still, she couldn’t help but turn her face into his hand a bit, not saying anything at first as her thoughts and feelings warred inside her.
Only when it seemed like Tiar had said what he needed to did she open her mouth to reply. Kennedy wasn’t sure what she was going to say yet, but it definitely would have involved him being so very wrong about what risks she was willing to allow someone she cared about to take in her place. Before she could say anything, however, his mouth was covering hers. Kennedy made a soft noise of surprise, though it didn’t take much coercing for her to press her mouth back to his, the heated intensity brought on by not only her whirlwind emotions, but also the fact that she had very much thought she was going to die and now it was like she had another chance. The siren was just so damn glad to be alive that she couldn’t even think of holding back.
