Kennedy & Tiar | Day 2, Late Night
Tiar listened to Kennedy as much as his brain would allow him to around it internally yelling at her that she just needed to listen to him, and everything would be okay. He didn't know why he had this hunch, but he did; and Tiarnach Finnigan had learned a long time ago to trust his instincts, because they rarely let him down.
When the siren began to talk about how she was too selfish, and that she wasn't a good choice to be chosen for such a role, the merman shook his head at her and talked over her a bit. "You're not selfish, Kenny. You're just a normal person who isn't used to the responsibility you have now. And you're not a monster!"
The young man knew his companion was scared, and just because he had this hunch didn't mean he wasn't. No one's intuition was 100% perfect all the time. "Look, I know you don't think you're so impor..." Tiar had started to try and convince Kennedy again, but she was apparently having none of it. The merman's words filtered away as the young woman stepped up and cupped his cheek before raising herself on tiptoe to place a kiss on the very same cheek. He immediately knew what she was about to do. "Kenny....DON'T"
It was too late. She said the words. She refused the dare.
"God Damnit, Kennedy!!," Tiarnach bellowed. He grabbed hold of the tiny blonde and pulled her to him. Cupping her face with his hands, he tried to speak to her as calmly and confidently as he could...because he could feel her shaking in fear. "I'm going to be right here, Kenny. I'm not going to leave you, and I won't let your sisters find out." He nodded at her, and she nodded back as the tears continued to flow. "Don't be afraid. Don't let it have that much power."
