Rosé & Key | Day 2 (after the quarantine announcement/just before Taeyong runs off)
For a brief second, Rosé thought that Kibum was removing her hand because she'd overstepped her bounds. He was her elder, and her sunbaenim...and he had not invited her touch. The young woman was getting away with a lot just by calling him 'oppa' without his express permission to do so.
Complicated things required help, or at least help could make things less complicated. That was why she'd suddenly volunteered herself to him. No matter the crush that the swan had, Rosé was the kind of person who genuinely wanted to help the people she cared about. She was shy and quiet, not the cool, untouchable queen that her stage persona came off as.
It was his confession that drew her up short. A scandal? Unbeknownst to her, her dark eyes widened and she blinked a few times as her brain came to grips with it. As her companion's phone rang again, and he addressed it, Rosé was mulling in her head what she should do. She wanted to help him, but it scared her what the Chairman might do if she were found to be in a scandal. Of course, knowing him, he could also congratulate her on using BTS's popularity as a draw to her own group should she be paired with Kibum in the media. Still, all of the hate and negativity she knew would find their way to her was so anxiety inducing that it made her heart skip a beat in her chest. But as soon as Kibum's eyes turned back toward her, Rosé knew what her answer would be.
As he took her hand into his own, the swan smiled the most genuine smile...just for him. "I know you wouldn't ask unless you had no choice, oppa. I do want to help." And really, in the end, Yeo Kibum could have asked her to jump off the roof of the building and she may have seriously considered it. The backlash would be hard, but maybe...just maybe...this would endear her to him. Maybe he would finally 'see' her.
With her confirmation, the other idol began to lead her down the hallway and her eyes began to dart to and fro wondering what it was he had to do to cause a 'scandal'. Well, that was a question she should have asked before volunteering, right? "Oppa, what is it you have to do to cause a scandal?" she asked softly, so as not to draw the attention of....whomever.
