Re: Morgan & Maddie | Day Two, After the Quarantine
To say that these two were one couple who were decidedly not equipped to handle emotions in any semblance of a proper way would be an understatement. Morgan knew she should have probably delivered these truths in some kind of softer manner. Maybe more coherent, less just throwing them out there like they meant nothing. That's not the way Morgana Blackwell operated, however. When it came to anything serious or emotional, she tended to wave it off or mock it all together. It was easier than dealing with it or figuring out just how little everyone else cared about you.
She could see Maddie struggling to figure out how to respond, and managed a rare soft and affectionate smile. Morgan knew it was just as hard for him, but the fact that he wasn't just turning away or trying to get her in bed spoke volumes to how they'd grown together. She never would have been able to have this conversation with anyone before falling in love with Maddie. Hell, she wouldn't have even known what love was. "I'm not sure that is accurate enough to describe just how fucking awful they are, but I don't think language has come up with words for it yet so I'll take it." She was fiddling with the blanket they'd draped over them with her free hand, a subtle sign of how uncomfortable she was but trying to hide it. The other hand was more than happy to squeeze Maddie's in return, letting her thumb idly move over the back of his hand as she tried to get through this.
That task got a whole lot easier when Maddie spoke next, and she felt her heart stutter as it swelled with that overwhelming feeling that bloomed in her as the truth of that statement settled on her. Morgan had known that for awhile now, more so after his father's death and the discovery of his secret siblings. It wasn't just because he had been terrified to lose her and by her side every step of her recovery, but that he had let her into his world, into his family, and didn't balk when confronted with her own.
"How the fuck did I trick fate into letting me have someone like you, Maddox Lennon?" she asked, a soft smile on her lips before she let out another breath. "Why don't we start right from the big one: I'm a demi fae." Morgan watched him as she revealed that tidbit, waiting for the confusion and realization to settle in before continuing. "A muse, to be precise."
