Nissa, Lights & Poppy | Later afternoon Day Two
"I know! And I've wanted to talk to you about it but I had to tell you to talk to you about it and that was risk something going wrong." Nissa told her. she was practically pleading with her best friend to believe her, to forgive her. She was so focused on Poppy that she barely noticed her own tears that were starting to run down her cheeks. Poppy shook her head and turned her attention to lights. For the risk time, Nissa honestly couldn't tell if her best friend even believed her.
She didn't follow Poppy's gaze to Lights as she demanded to know how he had told. She wasn't surprised that he had told Owen, not that he had TOLD her he had told Owen. Still she didnt look up. Nissa used the edge of the blanket she was still wrapped up in to wipe away her tears, or try at least since they were still falling silently. She didn't look up again until Poppy laughed in the least friendly laugh she had ever come from the other girl.
Nissa started to open her mouth to stop Poppy as she turned to go but there were no words. She had no idea what she needed to say to make any of this better. Surely keeping her here right now wasn't going to help. So she let Poppy walk out the door and her silent tears quickly turned to sobs as the door slammed shut behind her.
Nissa let herself curl in the corner of her couch, drawing her knees up to her chest.
"I'm sorry," she told Lights without looking up at him before she buried her face in her knees. She wasn't even completely sure what she was apologizing for. But the whole situation was her fault with her stupid dare.
