WHO: Ajay and Chaos WHEN: Evening, a few weeks following the revelation of his past WHERE: Ajay's room WHAT: Talking things out. RATING: Who honestly knows anymore?
Ajay knew that he was being pretty cowardly avoiding Chaos in the wake of what had happened at the ball. It wasn't that he was going out of his way not to see her, but more he wasn't seeking her out as he normally would. Any attempts to broach serious topics led to him making an excuse to leave before anything could really be said, and even their "extracurricular activities" had been put on hold. Ajay was afraid if he spent too much time with her in an intimate capacity, even if they both were vehemently maintaining there were no feelings there, that he would confess something he wasn't sure he was ready to confess. He knew it was stupid and childish, and the fact that he'd seen Chaos less and less since he started to make these small efforts was both a blessing and a disappointment. Ajay realized with a start that he actually missed her, but he couldn't get over his issues enough to do anything about it.
And what was he supposed to say? His parents had thought he was worth so little that they'd framed him for murders he hadn't committed? That he'd been cast out by them and forced to live like a feral dog ever since? That there must be something so inherently disappointing about him that his own family didn't even see the need to keep him around? No. Chaos never looked down on him for being an outcast, for being different. He didn't want to ruin her perception of his cool aloofness by telling her how he'd really come to be that way.
He was sitting in his room, reading, while these thoughts plagued him. A knock at the door brought him out of his depressing thoughts, though he couldn't exactly imagine who was there. Ajay wasn't exactly expecting company. Figuring they'd give up and move on, he attempted to keep reading, hoping they didn't knock again.
