Lyrica & Devon | AFTER MIDNIGHT
To be honest, Devon was very relieved when Lyrica confirmed she had someplace in mind cause he most certainly did not. And really didn't want to look like the idiot trying to scramble for someplace to take the beautiful girl. Honestly, they would probably just end up driving back to school. Which probably counted as super lame. His internal babble was cut short as she kissed him again. He didn't need to focus on that anxious energy that seemed to always course through him. He only needed to focus on this beautiful girl that kept pressing those beautiful lips to his.
"OK, if you're sure," he answered as she said her friend could get stuff for her. Devon only knew Maria in passing, mostly only because she spent so much time with Lyrica. If she was confident Maria would get stuff for her that was fine with him. Devon slipped an arm around her waist as they walked down the sidewalk. He didn't feel the need to fill the air with idle chatter, which was actually a feat for Devon. he wasn't often a fan of dead air unless his mind was at high speed and then he couldn't pay attention to anything around him anyway.
His mind was wandering when she pulled him to a very fancy building which was the last place he expected to go. His confusion was beyond obvious as the security guard glanced up with little concern. OK, so she was at least allowed to be here? The confusion only grew in the elevator when she produced a secret key. It only half clicked when she explained it was her father building. Somewhere in his head, he knew that Lyrica was related to someone important that he vaguely thought was music related but he hadn't really thought about it. Really his lack of ability to think about or remember anything about that side of the music business was probably why he hadn't actually been signed until Romeo had walked in on him singing in the practice room.
He kissed her back the elevator moved, refusing to over think anything. there really was no point to that anyway. At least until they stepped out of the elevator into a space that looked like it should be in a fancy movie. His surprise at her statement was beyond obvious at his wide eyes when she said this was the family penthouse.
"Wait this place is for show?" he asked like it was the craziest thing he had ever heard. He turned in a circle in each room she led him through, taking in everything he could see. "you said your parents are with their lovers? Not with each other?" he asked. maybe he shouldn't have asked that but it was the casual way she said that had confused him.
he fell quiet when she said he was the first to come here, besides Maria. He couldn't help the way that sent a special tingle down his back at the thought. Was he really that special to her? He was grinning both at the thought and how beautiful she looked outlined by the light of the city.
"Does that mean I'm special?" he asked as he walked up behind her and slipped his arms around her waist. It suddenly occurred to him that this might be the moment. Was this the moment of DTR, like Hannah had told him about?
