Maria & Lyrica (w/ other appearances) | 11:45 ish
Maria knew her best friend was confused by her... kinda boyfriend?... potential boyfriend?.... FWB?... Fuckbuddy? Maria honestly had no idea what to refer to Devon as but either way she knew Lyrica was confused by the whole thing. It was at least a third of the reasons she had insisted on going to this party rather than August Knight's. Maria reasoned that Devon was far more likely to turn up here since he might have the connections or fame to get in to August's party yet. Another third was that Maria reasoned it was WAY more fun to actually witness jealous and frustrated Hendrix. Lyrica's ex was amusing as fuck when he didn't get his way. The last and possibly most important third was Davin. He had posted he was coming to his party. She figured 2 out of 3 reasons not being entirely selfish made her a great friend.
Besides, She really did want Lyrica to meet up with Devon, get her NYE eve kiss and a good fuck and maybe figure out what the fuck was going on there. Maybe that made reason 1 the most important. Maybe it didn't matter much cause none of the reasons were working out so well. They hadn't seen Devon OR Davin at all yet. Hendrix was not being nearly as amusing as he was supposed to be. In fact, she was pretty sure he hadn't even looked in their direction. He hadn't looked anywhere but that pretty blonde's face and the way he looked at her... Maria didn't think too much about the feelings it brought up in her. She had no interest in Hendrix but she wouldn't mind someone looking at her like that.
"Renette?" Maria echoed as her eyes shifted back to Lyrica, "As in the filthy rich girl with the haunted mansion he wanted to film that video in?" THAT girl did not seem like the type of girl that A) Hendrix would be interested in and B) would be interested in Hendrix. She raised an eyebrow as Lyrica kept talking. "Why do we care if she is a good person?" she asked. Maria had never really understood that distinction. The need to deem people good or bad. As far as she was concerned, no one was truly good at their core. Everyone selfish and hendonistic. The only difference was those who had learned to ignore those instincts better than others. Her laugh was sarcastic as Lyrica mentioned that she was out of Hendrix's league. "I'm pretty sure that girl is out of the league of everyone in this place." She answered. For the Jersey girl, it wasn't a matter of someone being better than another. It was about culture and the type of people that the faceless society pages deemed more important or enviable. Renette was one of those girls. beautiful, clearly wealthy and classy with a dash of innocence that was obvious to Maria even all the way over here.
She rolled her eyes as she turned to help herself to another glass of champagne. There was no such thing as TOO much alcohol for Maria, especially on NYE. She had started to move to the music again as Lyrica asked about Davin. She shrugged. She had no idea where he was but the place was packed and she hadn't actually made any plans with him. SHe did, however, make a show of looking around the room like she was looking for a dance partner, even though she clearly had a line of boys wanting her attention.
"Heyyy Look what I spy with my exceptionally pretty eyes." She teased with a smirk as she turned back to Lyrica. "There is a certain up and coming rockstar that is WAY better at lyrics than he is at speaking at 3 o'clock," she told her as she pointed in the direction. Not that the oblivious artist had noticed either or Lyrica yet.
