The Hardy's Christmas
Who: The First Family and their significant others When: Christmas Where: The White House, D.C. What: A family Christmas with happy surprises
It was very late on Christmas eve. So late that it was technically Christmas morning. But President Hardy had always subscribed to the belief that it wasn't actually the next day until he had slept. Unless the sun came up and then there was no denying that it was a new day. He was still in the oval office. he was determined to complete some work before he went to bed. There was always work to do but if he finished everything he was aware of how he may be able to focus on his family for most of the day tomorrow. He already knew it was going to be a special day.
It was about 3:30 in the morning when he finally rose from his desk. He had heard London come in with her fiance about a half hour ago. Wait... there were still a few hours before Romeo would technically be her fiance. He smiled to himself as he remembered the conversation he had had with Romeo when the young rockstar had asked for his blessing. He may not be what he had imagined London ending up with but his daughter was so happy with him and there was so much more to Romeo than most people realized.
Robert Hardy knew he should be headed to bed but still he moved through the decorated halls of the white house for a few minutes. His beautiful wife had done a wonderful job designing the decorations for every conceivable area of the white house. He stopped briefly at the main Christmas Tree before he headed up to his family's living quarters.
Serenity had done just as wonderful of a job here. Their personal Christmas tree bathed the living room in light. It had changed since he had left this morning. There were gifts everywhere and the stockings had been filled. He honestly didn't knows what he would do without his wife. Serenity was his soulmate and his rock. It was his last task of the evening to retrieve his gifts for her from their hiding spot and add them to the piles under the tree. Serenity had handled almost every other aspect of their family holiday but he would never miss an opportunity to shower his love with beautiful gifts. He moved to add a few things to her stocking before he retreated to his bedroom. Serenity was already sound asleep there but he was well practiced at not disturbing her as he joined her.
...
The president always rose early. Far too early for someone that went to bed as late as he did. It was about 6:30 when he emerged from his bedroom. HIs family was still sound asleep and he laughed softly at the memories of his beautiful children dragging Serenity and him from their bed at this time when they had been young. It was kinda sad to think about how much they had all grown and how much they would much rather sleep in the morning. He collected coffee and a small breakfast before returning to his office. there were things that needed to be checked on before he could have the family time he desired.
He returned to the residence level about 10 am to find Serenity awake, preparing coffee.
"the kids up yet?" he asked after he leaned into a morning kiss. He smiled mischievously as she told him they had not moved. Well, it was absolutely time to get them moving. He moved to the CD player and selected the most obnoxious Christmas CD the family owned. He hit play while turning the volume up louder than any of their normal alarms. The President of the United States when went from room to room, opening doors and singing loudly with the song ("Grandma got run over by a Reindeer"). Of all the talents the president had, singing was not one of them.
