REN & KEY | JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT
Ferren's smile only widened at the compliment in regards to her pronunciation. She'd wanted it so much to be a surprise, that she hadn't asked for a native speaker's help, but instead scoured the internet in the attempt to get it right. She had definite plans to learn the language, or at least to be able to speak it. She was sure once she got the hang of it, Hangul wouldn't be too difficult, but right now she felt she couldn't devote the proper time. With the new knowledge she'd been able to gain, so much of her free time was being consumed with adding the additional research into her thesis notes. To hear that Key would be happy to help her was a boon. "You would," she asked brightly, her smile matching in intensity. "It would be nice to surprise the other boys as well. And the whole 'who is older and more experience hierarchy' is more than a little confusing."
As she doodled on the window, Ren thought how cute it was that Key joined her. She wondered if the character meant 'snowflake' but didn't ask; especially since Key himself was kind of asking his own questions. "I guess I didn't explain that very well," she replied. Ren didn't give a second thought to sharing what she did next; Key was her friend, and friends shared private things with each other. "It's not that Lu wouldn't want to go on an overseas trip with me, or that he wouldn't enjoy it. It's just....." There was a brief pause before the human girl added, "His grandmother."
Bright blue eyes glanced over at Key, "You see, I'm not really the class of girl that his Grandmother approves of. Luthor is able to get away with a great deal because his brother is deemed 'more important', and he shields Lu from her gaze a lot." There was an almost imperceptible sigh, "I just don't think Luxian would be able to distract her long enough for us to go away together for any significant amount of time." Deciding to distract herself, Ren asked Key about how their holiday would go in Seoul. It saddened her a little that they had to be so busy. It's not like she didn't already notice it, because they boys flew back to South Korea often for their work. She decided then to make it a point to contact them if she could. Maybe even just a cheerful hello from a friend in their hectic schedule would ease their stress.
When he mentioned the music festival, Ren was intrigued. Though they had stayed on campus for Christmas, Rianne and she would be heading home for the New Year. This year, their little sister would be joining them after having been accepted to Mystic. "Can I watch it in real time?" She thought for a second and then looked at her companion with wide eyes, "Wait, isn't Seoul like thirteen hours ahead of us, or something?!" She gave him a sly little side-eye, "If I stay up all night to watch, I certainly thing I deserve a wink." Glancing over her shoulder at the others in the room, she said, "It's nice that you'll get to have Haejin with you for a few days mor...oh, where is he?"
