Jaio Li's tea was put down with a clatter, springing to her feet in a blur of motion as everyone moved at once. JiLi could hear Qing chattering at his sister loudly, a bit to loudly, and Lucky was lifting the young girl from the counter so she could run to Wei Jian who lifted her up as Jaio Li moved quickly to block Bai Yue from completely entering the kitchen, stopping her effectively before she could lay eyes on Wei Jian.
Jaio Li knew she had to be the one to break the news of his arrival to her, it was going to be rough enough on her to see him again, never mind with a child he called his daughter, she didn't need to be assaulted by the vision on him before she had atleast a moment to process.
"Qing, leave your sister be." The young prince stopped talking and retreated behind Jaio Li, where Lucky also stood. The eldest wondered if it was because they were trying to support her or take shelter from what was surely about to happen.
"Bai Yue." Jaio Li's voice was serious, indicating to the princess that she had something important on her mind. It was also obvious that Bai Yue wanted to show her something, something she was excited to have found. She smiled as reassuringly as she could, before she took the younger girl's hand and drew her out of the kitchen into the parlor.
"Wei Jian is here." Perhaps there should have been more preamble, some prep, but honestly Jaio Li wasn't sure how to break it any more gently then this.
