Hobi was too busy staring at the sky and the beauty around him to notice the way that Moon looked at him. The way they always looked at each other when the other wasn't looking. As if the very sun and moon rose and set with the other. But it was the scent of the food that brought Hobi back down to Earth and he settled in front of Moon, picking up his own chop sticks. The way the light played over Moon's face, as he looked down at the food, his dark hair falling so carelessly, was just as breathtaking to Hobi as the sunset happening before them. But before he could get caught staring at his best friend in a way that might make him uncomfortable he was speaking, his honest and sincere feelings out in the open. Of course MOon smiled as he agreed and Hobi was again filled with warmth at the way just being around Moon made him feel. Why did it feel different here then it South Korea?
It was Moon's commentary on the food that made Hobi use his own chopsticks to dig in, trying his food and nodding in agreement. "Perhaps American palates are different so they use less spice?" he suggested. Moon was right, it wasn't bad, just different from the authentic food they had eaten before. "We should ask Jae-sunbaeium or Doki hyung if they have some suggestions of more authentic places to order from." This of course wasn't a complaint. Hobi would eat pretty much anything.
The two ate in companionable silence, watching the sunset explode over the water, lighting it up with the bright colors. The silence wasn't bad, it felt easy and comfortable, like most things between them. As Hobi finished, he stretched out his legs, relaxing as the last of the sun settled below the horizon, letting his eyes adjust to the darkness that fell upon them. That was when he was able to see the lights in the water, multi-colored and brilliant with the movement of the water and fish within it.
"Moon-ah!" he gasped in wonder, moving to push himself to his feet, kicking off his sandals, and removing his zip-up sweatshirt. He turned and reached his hand out to Moon. "Come on hyung, lets go in the water!" As Moon took his hand, he helped the older boy to his feet, pausing for Moon to kick off his sandals and take off his own sweater. Intwining their hands again he pulled him towards the water, feeling the sand beneath his feet.
The water was warm and a sound of joy came from the younger man's lips as they kicked and splashed in the ankle deep water, watching the drops of water light up. Hobi tugged on Moon's hand so they went deeper into the water, until they were about hip deep, the gentle waves of the lake calm.
"The water is so warm!" Hobi exclaimed. "And this water! Is this magic?"
