The time when Elle had been kidnapped had literally been the worst, the longest time of Killain's life. And when she had been brought home he had tried to visit her in the hospital, but had been told he had to give her space to heal.
Within that space he had realized how much he needed her in his life. They'd been in a weird transitional space of trying to figure out how to be friends and/or lovers. And her kidnapping had thrown all that into chaos. And when she'd returned he knew she had trauma she needed time and space to work through so their awkward dance of awkward-but-comfortable-friendship had happened.
Killian did not want to just be Elle's friend. He knew this. She was everything to him. Fuck, he'd known this before all this. If he hadn't would he have been wearing the lock she'd given him the last five years?
The knock at the door had the model stirring from his couch where he'd been playing PS4, some shooting game. Pausing it he padded to the door, wearing just a pair of soft cotton plaid PJ's, slung low on his angular hips.
Opening the door revealed Elle and he looked only momentarily confused at her appearance. She looked adorable and he held his door open for her to enter.
"Come in," he said with an assuring smile. "I was just playing some Call of Duty."
