WHO: McKinley & Jasper (with some Blaise & Lia possibly)
WHEN: January 28th, Saturday night around midnight
WHERE: A dance club in Halifax
WHAT: McKinley goes out with her older sister and Blaise and they intervene as they always do.
It had been a weird few months for McKinley. Since her brush with death in the attacks she'd decided it was time she really lived. On her terms. But what that actually meant, she hadn't really figured out. So she'd made a list of things she always wanted to experience, but never had or had thought wasn't important in the grand scheme of her life and her family. This list, which some might call a bucket list, ran the gauntlet from things like "watch the sunset and then stay up all night to see the sunrise," to more risque things like "have a threesome." The therapist she was seeing said it was natural for her to want to experience all these things and that she should do that, as long as she wasn't hurting herself in the process.
And when it came to her heart, she had no idea where it was. She hadn't exactly broken up with Parrish so much as slammed on the brakes. When she'd woken up with both Jasper and Parrish at her bedside she'd tried to be as honest as possible. The siren had no idea what she wanted. She knew she cared about them both so much, but she didn't know anymore. Jasper had been the last thing on her mind that day, she'd wanted Kennedy to tell him...what she didn't even know or remember. But when Parrish had looked into her eyes she felt that too. And so she did the only thing she thought was logical: tell them she needed time and space. But within a few weeks that had turned into her telling them both she couldn't commit to either of them, but if they wanted to date her they had to be okay with her dating them both while she figured it out. And maybe dating other people. Really she had thrown that in so it wasn't so closed, really she wasn't so into the idea of dating anyone else.
The last few months she'd been able to put them both off with excuses about her twin. Kennedy was THE WATER ELEMENTAL and Kinley was going to be there for her twin every step of the way. Maybe she was using this an excuse to avoid the boys, but so far they'd respected her space and decisions. Really Kinley was surprised that Parrish hadn't just decided to let her go and find someone else, and she wouldn't blame him. And just because they were giving her space didn't mean she didn't see them. Truth be told she probably saw Parrish more then Jasper, but she felt safer with him. He was familiar and safe and normal and sometimes she found herself falling into old habits with him. And then pulling away again. Really she didn't know why he put up with her.
Lia had suggested they go out for a night on the town, taking a break from her wedding planning for the girl's night. And true to McKinley's new lease on life she forced herself to put on the sparkly and very revealing dress she'd bought with Lia weeks ago. The girl in the mirror looked way sexier then McKinley ever thought she looked, especially with the sky high sparkling rhinestone shoes, adding to her diminutive height. Leaving her golden blonde hair down and wavy she put some sparkly eyeshadow on and some nude lipstick and joined her older sister and bestie.
A few hours later, and a few drinks later, Kinley was feeling pretty good as she found herself dancing with a rather cute boy who wasn't either of the confusing boys in her life. He'd bought her a drink, even though Lia had procured a VIP section for them since she was royalty. The heady bass of the music was almost hypnotic as she danced with the stereotypically attractive boy. Lia and Blaise were dancing not too far from her, obviously giving no boy that tried the time of day as they danced with each other.
And then the song switched, the voice that seduced all who listened so achingly familiar to her. Abruptly McKinley excused herself from the cute boy and made her way to the bar as Jasper's sultry voice filled the club. Even on a night out she couldn't escape him.
"More champagne," she called to the bartender, a pretty girl in a sexy black dress. A new glass of bubbly appeared in front of the siren and she raised it to her lips as she turned towards to the crowd to watch as the whole club danced to the sensual tones of the song Jasper had written about THEIR sex life. That was when Lia and Blaise reappeared with shots of some fruity delicious concoction that they insisted she try since she'd never had shots before and this was all about living life to the fullest, right? Then they were gone again, leaving Kinley with her glass of bubbly, a floaty head and thoughts of the pop star who was still singing a song that would surprise anyone that it was about the controlled siren sipping her glass of champagne.
And unbidden the memories of them, in sync with the suggestive words he sang flashed in her head. Damn him. Blue eyes watched the sexy dancing of the others in the club as she tried not to think of the way her and Jasper's bodies always seemed to be in sync.
