The fact that Parker wasn't just feeding her pretty lies to make her feel better did in fact make her feel a little better. Like maybe it was okay to lean on him, even though they weren't a couple anymore. Right? His arm was gentle around her shoulders and she leaned into him, the warmth of his body seeping into her. Her eyes were squeezed closed as the tears still slipped out.
"Promise?" she whispered softly. Maybe there could be a silver lining here, maybe this would make Parker realize that they were supposed to be together, that love could work for them. That they deserved this. While it was true he had broken up with her, she wasn't entirely sure WHY that was, but it just didn't seem important at this moment. Right now he was the only one that made her feel safe.
When she opened her eyes she looked up at him. And she couldn't stop herself from leaning up and kissing him. It was soft and gentle. She pulled away and stood up, taking a deep breath as she walked away, to the paintings. For a long moment she stared at them, then spoke.
"I don't know what they wanted. All I know was there was such hatred directed at us." The pink haired unicorn wrapped her arms around herself. "It was always dark. I didn't know how long I was there. Not until we escaped." Another long pause. "I didn't see everyone, I think we each only saw little pieces of what was going on, on purpose, so we would stay in the dark. " She unzipped the hooded sweatshirt and put it gently on the nearest chair, no longer hiding the ugly stitches, bruises and healing scars on her once perfect pale skin. One graceful hand came up to move a strand of pale pink hair from her face, fingertips brushing the scars on her face.
"I was positive I was going to die. Others did." Her voice was quiet, shaky as she spoke. "And each time he came into my cell I thought for sure this was the time he was going to do it, either kill me or..." she didn't finish her thought, though it was clear what she thought.
"But he didn't. Instead he kept hurting me and the others until we'd agree to change into our unicorn forms. He threatened to kill Elle in front of me if I didn't change." Lola wiped at her eyes as the tears fell.
"And when I did..." She trailed off again, finally turning to face him as she indicated the star shaped birthmark on her forehead, which was red and angry. "He broke it." Her voice was barely audible. "He broke my horn." And then the tears broke through the wall and she couldn't stop sobbing, finding herself on the floor in Parker's arms, the dam of emotions breaking as she did.
