BACKPOST THREAD: Cyd & Krys
WHO: Cyd & Krys WHEN: AUGUST 4th, Evening, 6:40pm WHERE: One of the open recording studios on Campus WHAT: Krys decides now is as good a time as any to try to talk to his old friend. RATING: High (Language for sure (Cyd has the vocabulary of a well educated sailor), and who knows what else might happen, we have no control) OPEN: Ongoing
The only reason Cyd Furiosa had agreed to take some time off and attend Mystic Veil was because her younger sister Clio needed her. And rehab wasn't what she needed, just time out and away from the spotlight after her marriage had self-destructed. And she had almost killed him when he tried to kill her. It had been Cyd that Clio called when she had come to her senses, terrified of what had happened to her and what her Fury power had done to Jerome. And Cyd had dropped everything, canceled a tour and announced she would be taking time off to spend with family and work on a new record. The anti-social rock star hadn't told anyone where she had gone, but with the star studded classmates she now had, rumors had leaked out. Some thought she was having a breakdown and Cyd did nothing to stop those rumors. In fact she rarely addressed rumors. She just made music and as a rule never answered questions about her personal life.
Cyd knew her younger sister needed the structure the school could offer. And it gave her an outlet for her music. She knew that The Devil's Rejects were there more often then not, but it was a big school and she was pretty sure Krys had more self preservation then to come talk to her.
She was soon to be proven mistaken.
The fury was in the studio recording a rough acoustic version of one of her older songs, "Fully Alive," as an assignment from Osiris, who happened to be someone she greatly respected as an artist and her professor now. This was probably the fifth time she'd recorded the same song, playing with singing the same old words with different notes each time, and sometimes changing up some of the old lyrics into new ones. She'd listen to them all later and turn in her favorite to Osiris tomorrow.
This take she changed the name "Layla" to "Clio" as she sang the first line. Cyd's eyes were closed as she played the acoustic guitar and sang, focused on just her song, pouring all her emotions into her words. The name "Layla" had just be a filler for herself, before this, but now all the lyrics fit her younger sister as well.
[EDIT: The lyrics "and she knows how to believe in futures" is sang as "and she knows I don't believe in futures." Also changing that last "Jesus" to "Love." THANK YOU. <3]
She sensed when someone else slipped into the room. They made no noise and she didn't open her eyes right away. Cyd sensed who it was before she opened her eyes, but didn't stop playing, as she sang the chorus a last time, changing the last line as she did, her dark eyes meeting his intense ones as she sang, "And she knows I don't believe in love."
Silence fell in the studio and she didn't say anything as she leaned forward and hit the stop button, then silently saved the sessions onto her thumb drive. Without looking at Krys, she spoke first, the first thing she'd spoken to him since Cassie's funeral all those years ago.
"And here I thought you had better self preservation instincts," she commented dryly. The fury stood then, putting aside her guitar. Just seeing him filled her with conflicting instincts and feelings, so many feelings. Ever since she could remember she'd had a crush on the gorgeous boy she'd known all her life. And it turned out that even though he'd been pushed by their families to be with Cassie, THEY were soulmates. And that had driven her twin mad with jealousy. Cyd hadn't known how to process that, and hadn't ever addressed it to anyone else. Instead she'd avoided him, going so far as to ignore him and his band, which happened to be the BIGGEST rock n roll band on the planet on the red carpet.
And here he was in front of her, alone even more gorgeous then should be allowed. Guilt and anger hit her like a wave and she turned away, taking the opportunity to tuck a strand of black hair behind her ear and smooth down the worn old black crop top she had thrown on earlier. It was much easier to ignore him when they weren't in a room alone.
