That smile he gave her now, the one she'd seen when....well, was the one that flitted through her mind when she needed it most. Her mind shied away from the unpleasant memories, for the moment at least, instead focusing on the way that smile made her entire body feel like jelly. Clio could have melted into him on the spot at the sight of that smile.
Shaking her head at his question, her own smile turned into an expression of surprise. She stared for several moments, dark eyes wide as he chuckled softly. As if she should have known. With a start, Clio realized she had. "It always resonated with me, as if you were speaking directly to me," she confessed, raising her eyes to his in a rare show of vulnerability. "It helped a lot when things with Jerome got...." Trailing off, she bit her lip, refusing to continue that train of thought. Jerome wasn't here. Gabriel was. "I found my way to what I wanted, though." Clio's soft voice didn't make it clear whether that was her career or finding him, but it wasn't like a random encounter outside was the time or place for heartfelt confessions. She was in no place for it anyway.
Her lips curved up as his hands attempted to smooth hair that refused to obey, since she liked the way his fingers felt running through it. The breeze carried a bite of chill to it, making her shiver in the skimpy nightgown she wore, but Gabriel's jacket was coming around her shoulders before she could get truly uncomfortable with the cold. Smiling, she was distracted from thanking him as his fingers slid over the delicate skin of her collarbone, not caring that they were dangerously close to her neck.
"What's so interesting about a kiss?" she asked coyly, expression mischievous. "I wanted someone's lips on me forever."
