There was a very small voice in the back of her mind that warned she shouldn't be doing this. Clio had just escaped from a very violent marriage, one that had nearly cost her her life as well as her sanity. She wasn't even remotely over it, as tonight's nightmare had illustrated clearly, and the physical scars and marks were nothing compared to the emotional ones. The last thing she needed was to be kissing someone this soon, much less pressing herself into him with a fervor she hadn't realized was still active. But this was Gabriel. He was here, he was real, and it felt too damn good for her to listen to that very small voice.
At least for the moment.
The feel of him pressed against her, and how Clio fit into the curve of his body perfectly, caused her to sigh again. Even after all these years, it was clear they were meant to be together. He smelled the same, he felt the same, and she took the opportunity to run her hands through that hair now that she'd surrendered to his kiss fully. The way he held her with that same possessiveness, the kind that wasn't oppressive or violent but simply passionate and intense, made her want to be closer to him. Clio could still remember how his hands felt on her, and suddenly the nightmare that had seemed too real to escape moments ago was far from her mind. Gabriel was really here. Everything was going to be okay.
His lips were the first to move back, and she bit her own swollen ones as she smiled at him. Her dark eyes were clearer now, less frenzied, and she let them roam over his face as his own moved to her shoulder. Clio knew what he was looking at right away, so even though she had many tattoos, she knew exactly which one he meant when he spoke. Her own smile turned a bit sheepish, teeth catching her lip as she lifted her eyes to his again. "Well it is your song, so it's not much of a surprise," she murmured, not knowing he'd written it for her. She'd felt such a connection to it when she'd heard it, though, it was like Gabriel had been speaking directly to her. That's why she'd gotten the tattoo. Letting her gaze drift to his arm, the lyrics he'd chosen for his own sent a jolt through her. That line seemed so powerful now, seeing it on him at least, and she let the question reflect in her eyes as she looked back up at him.
