Cris just shook his head in what may, or may not have, been an attempt at humor on Jewel's part. Leaning forward, he wrapped his free hand around her slender arm as he whispered, "It's clear right now. I want you to come out as quietly as you can, okay?"
Warm brown eyes darted back and forth between the two entrance of the room and Jewel, cringing at even the most miniscule sound that she made. It was honestly rather ridiculous considering the sounds of horror that still permeated the air. Once she was far enough out from beneath the desk, Cris helped the blind girl stand, "Are you hurt anywhere?" He needed to know, because if she was, this was going to make helping her infinitely more difficult.
