Jewel & Cris: Yorath Common Room
Cris had returned from lacrosse practice just twenty minutes prior to the beginning of the attacks. Freshly out of the shower, he was (rather terribly) singing along to some 1990's rap song, as he dressed, when he felt the aftershocks of the first blast going off. Instantly on alert, Cris ran to his dorm window to watch as smoke billowed from the Library, students streaming from building and running in blind panic across the quad. In the briefest seconds as he watched, another blast sounded, and this time he could see the windows of the Great Hall explode outward. Not again. Soft brown eyes shifted immediately to Yorath. His sisters. He had to get to Gia and Sophie.
Now, plenty of people thought that Cris was a bit of a bumbling fool and he kind of was, but he was also smart and strong. And even though he may startle easily, the boy was no coward. He knew how to defend himself, and was versed in what to do in these kinds of situations. That's why he was voice messaging his father, who happened to be a police officer, as he pulled on his shoes. Sprinting out his dorm door, he quickly grabbed his lacrosse stick, since it was the only real weapon he had on him.
He stealthily made his way from Azaira to Yorath, keeping to the early evening shadows, trying to direct students he came across away from the school. Growing up in the village, he knew the woods of Mystic Veil like the back of his hand. Once he'd reached his destination, he scrambled through one of the windows of the main floor kitchen in the attempt to circumvent both the back and main entrances, knowing that some of the attackers were probably positioned there to catch those trying to escape. He could hear the screams from the floors above and his heart sped up even more than it already was.
He'd entered the kitchen that was next to the Yorath Common room, and he had to duck a few times as he approached the doors that would lead him to hallway as body rushed back and forth. Students or attackers he wasn't sure, but couldn't risk finding out. As he listened quietly just inside the kitchen threshold, Cris deftly pulled open a drawer and pulled out a knife. With a deep breath, he poked his head into the hallway and found it momentarily clear. Making a break for it, he ran to the Common room like a bullet. The nephilim found the Common room eerily abandoned, it appeared no one was there when the attached began. He was just about to leave the room to make his way to Sophie when he heard the sound.
Sobbing? Jesus, whomever it was needed to be quiet or they would be found. Making the decision to guide whomever it was the way he'd made it in, Cris moved toward the corner where the crying was coming from. Someone was hiding beneath a desk. Kneeling, he started to whisper a reassurance when he noticed who it was. "Jewel?"
