McKinley & Kennedy - The Great Hall
Sitting at one of the tables in the Great Hall with her twin sister, McKinley was in the middle of trying to explain to her twin sister why Jasper King being at their school was literally the last thing on the Goddess' green earth that she would want, while still trying to eat her honey smoked salmon. So far she was so invested in this task that her salmon and rice remained untouched even though Kennedy was halfway through eating her own dinner. But that was what Jasper did to the usually controlled siren.
"Its just the way he waltzes back into my life and gets to act like he never left?!" Her voice rose a bit and she stopped and took a deep breath. "He's infuriating." Kennedy's knowing face showed her twin ALSO knew that the unresolved feelings were a part of this, but McKinley ignored that look she was giving her as she cut a piece of her fish and raised it to her lips.
"And Parrish is perfect. I like perfect. Perfect is nice and neat and not messy." She popped the fish into her mouth and chewed, swallowing before she opened her mouth to say something else, but suddenly the doors to the Great Hall burst open violently and group of people dressed in all black stormed in, armed to the teeth yelling about death to the freaks and started shooting. McKinley grabbed her twin's arm and pulled her to her feet.
"We have to get out of here!" They ran towards the closest side door, but just as they and another group of students reached for the door, it burst open and a smaller group of three shooters appeared. A cruel smile appeared on one of their faces and suddenly the student to McKinley's right was shot in the head, the blood spraying McKinley and Kennedy. McKinley couldn't stop the scream that came from her lips as Kennedy recovered first, pulling her back away from the door and the new assailants. Suddenly all the doors were bursting open with more shooters and McKinley's head whipped around searching for something, maybe a place to hide, but really it was like shooting fish in a barrel, students, people they knew and liked were dropping all around them. Wide frightened eyes searched around them as she grasped at her twin's arm.
McKinley wasn't a fighter, but she and Kennedy weren't going down like this, not if she could do something about this. As she turned to say something to her sister, searing pain ripped through her and her pale eyes widened. She looked down to see bright red blossoming on her abdomen, stark against her pale blue dress. Fingers gripped her sister's arm harder, nails digging into her skin, as her other hand came to cover the wound. Shock was obvious on her face as she fell towards Kennedy, holding onto her so she wouldn't fall. The pain was obvious on her face as she grasped at Kennedy.
