Who: Willa and Jacek
Where: Hallway near the main entrance
When: Monday, around 4pm
What: A Reunion!
Willa was trying. She was trying so hard to do everything her therapist and her uncle wanted her to do and more importantly to not do anything that she knew they wouldn’t want her to do. She was going to classes (most of the time), she was trying to make friends (she had made a few), She hadn’t stolen anything in a month and she had successful answered to Willa every time someone called her for the last two weeks. She was making progress at least that was what they told her. She felt just as empty and confused as ever.
She sighed as she closed the book in her hand. It was her mother's diary from right before she died. Willa had found it in a box in her uncle's study. She had taken it without permission so maybe she wasn’t following that no stealing rule as well as she thought. She had been holding for some insight in to her life before but she didn’t know the girl her mother described. The happy little girl that loved science class and won an award at the fair. Reading it only made her more confused. Was she supposed to find her way back to that person or was she supposed to make something new? She honestly had no idea how to do either.
There was a look of frustration on her pretty face as she shoved the diary back in her bag and got up from bench she was sitting on. She was due to go to class, a science class, but she didn’t want to. She hated science now, probably more to do with being behind in the material rather than the material itself. She thought about going in to town for a walk and maybe some shopping instead of class. It was far more appealing. She paused to pull her sweater over her dress. It was slightly chillier than she had thought it would be.
Willa moved silently as she turned to make her way out of the building. She had decided that shopping would be the best option and her uncle had given her allowance for the week. It didn’t take long before she stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes were wide when she saw him. It was just the back of his head but she knew all the same. She had been so sure she would never see him again despite how much she missed him. Everyone told her that longing would go away, that someday she would stop missing him. She hated that idea. But she had never expected to see him here.
'Mih..." She starred to call his name before she remember that wasn’t his real name. She had heard his name during one of the days in court. It took several long moments as she searched through her damaged memory to find his name. How did she not know the name of the boy she knew she was in love with? It started with a J. She sighed as it became clear she would not remember his birth name.
"Mihal?" she called, hoping he would still answer.
