Truth be told, Carmine was going through the motions of going to school. He'd enrolled in four classes and he'd probably gone to two classes in the last week. Mostly he ended up in the library with old texts, about weapons of power and things like that. And because of his un-diagnosed disability of dyslexia, it took him almost three times as long to read texts, but he was determined to research some of the weapons he had collected over the years, to see which of them had hidden powers and things he had yet to discover. So far he'd identified two as minor relics with historical value, but no other magical abilities. He was so engrossed in a passage about a mysterious glaive that had been passed down through a lineage of extinct guardians when a movement out of the corner of his eye startled him out of his concentration. It was only a group of students getting up to go to lunch. That was when he realized what time it was and that he was supposed to meet Dae for lunch. Closing the book, he shoved it and his barely legible notes into his bag, which he slung over his shoulder as he made his way out into the crowded hallway.
He wouldn't admit that he was glancing around for any sign of P, who he hadn't seen since their reunion in town a few weeks back. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do or think, but he had blushed at the arrival of the orange flowers that arrived on Valentine's Day. He hadn't explained them to his sister or Dae, just put them on display in the luxurious dining hall of the castle. He hadn't thought to get P's phone number when they had parted ways and the more time that went by since their reunion, the more he over thought what had happened between them.
As he glanced up, rounding a corner he spotted Dae hurrying towards him, flowers grasped tightly in her hand. Immediately he smiled at her, that rare smile that was only ever directed at her, and once upon a time, at P. The smile on the dainty blonde's lips was brilliant and warm and lit up her whole beautiful face. Dae broke into a run and threw her arm around his neck, practically flying into his arms. The warmth and protective feelings he felt around her warmed him and he embraced her back, the scent of flowers and Dae surrounding him. He closed his eyes for a moment as he let those feelings wash over him. Her soft musical voice floated to his ears as she said she missed him, her sparkling blue eyes meeting his own intense blue ones. As she handed him the small bouquet he smiled even bigger, accepting it as he released her from their embrace. He was aware of the eyes on them, but didn't really care.
"Thank you," he said softly, the rare smile still firmly on his lips. As she practically beamed up at him, obviously so pleased with herself, he couldn't help gently tucking a stray strand of golden hair behind her ear and out of her pretty face.
"I'll put these in our room, next to the bed," he said as he also moved to take her bag of books from her, easily adding the weight of her bag to the shoulder with his own bag. His free hand went to the small of her back as he gently steered her towards the fancy cafeteria.
