Right about the time that Cameo spilled sugar all over herself, and the kitchenette, is when she officially gave up on the day. In a fit of frustrated anger, she threw the tea cup she'd been holding into the sink, but instantly regretted it. The sound of the china shattering was loud enough to cause her to jump, which was a good thing since a sliver of the cup barely caught her cheek, but was sharp enough to cause her to bleed. Sinking to the floor, the lamia felt tears rise to eyes yet again, but tried desperately to not allow them to fall.
This was merely a culmination of one bad happenstance after another within the last 24hours. The worst of it having come just a few hours ago when she'd received the phone call from Ress. He and Tierney had finally arrived, and he'd asked Cammie to meet at one of the other dorms. Cameo had been beyond excited and figured Tierney was helping Ress settle in first before coming to the room that had been saved for them as transfers. The little blonde had dressed and in a flash was gone. Unfortunately, that is where her excitement ended.
What Cammie had found waiting for her was definitely not what she'd been expecting. Tier wasn't with Ress at all; the witch had wanted to meet with her alone. Immediately Cam felt worried. Was something wrong with her best friend? Did something happen to the babies? The explanation she received made her feel as if another rug had been pulled from beneath her. Not only would Tierney not be staying with Cammie, Ress also told the vampiress that Tierney had 'amnesia'. But said amnesia was actually induced. Hearing the anguish from Ress on the decision he and Kyna had come to in regards to Tierney's health caused another part of Cameo's heart to break. Her best friend was so tormented by the violence she'd suffered during their kidnapping, that it had been better to take her children from her, and
make
her forget it all.
Ress had asked her forgiveness in not telling her sooner, but Cammie couldn't be angry. She'd also promised to watch what was said. At least she hadn't shared the information about the babies with Alec, and she had yet to tell Travesty about the abduction anyway. What actually made the lamia angry was her own selfish feelings of being abandoned. Everything that Tierney had gone through, hell, what Wednesday had gone through, and here she was bemoaning the fact that she was alone in this dorm room.
Alone. She hated it. Alone made her feel as if she was being watched. In fact, she'd had an odd, jittery feeling all day that was increasingly making her clumsy. It was coming from Rain, and that only increased her worries...because why was Rain so nervous? Yet, Cameo refused to call him. She had to stop depending on him so much.
She was actually quite unaware of how long she sat there on the floor; hands wrapped around her knees and her head hidden. The knock at the door jolted her to awareness and when she raised her head, Cammie noticed the sun descending. Standing, she paid no heed to what she looked like before answering the door....only to find Rain on the other side. He looked handsome enough to cause her to catch her breath. But the fact that he was decked out in a suit, looking amazingly dapper gave her pause. Looking down at herself, she glanced back at him, "Have I forgotten something?"
