Paine was indeed in the garage. Because the gym would require going to school. Where Ailee could find him. It didn't occur to him that the girl wasn't stupid, that if he stood her up again she would come find him here, in his inner sanctuary. He had gotten dressed for their date, which he had agreed to, and then as he looked at himself in the mirror, black suit, black shirt, black tie, he had a panic attack. The half demon/half angel could fly down roads at break neck speed in a car and do other risky behavior things, but he couldn't go a date with Ailee. And it wasn't that he didn't want to. Not exactly. He wanted to go out with her. But being a lust demon and love nephilim, gave him the weird ability to sense his own soul mate connection with the other lust demon. And when he agreed to go out with her, if it didn't just happen randomly with no planning, the thoughts as he thought about it, what it could mean what it would mean when she ultimately decided the poor scholarship boy from Canada could never properly assimilate into her shining world and rejected him, would launch him into an anxiety induced panic attack. And then he couldn't even text her to cancel. He just didn't show up. This had happened more times then he was comfortable counting. And instead of explaining, he just avoided her, hoped she would get over him and hate him, because that was better then rejecting him if he gave her his heart. As it stood now, she had been in his bed numerous times, but actual dates hadn't actually ever panned out. Except the dance. Which he had almost backed out of. But so many other people were going, it had been fine. And they had soon left to go back to his room.
To blow off his anxiety, Paine had arrived at the garage, using his own set of keys to get in, since it was closed. He hadn't bothered to lock up behind him, no one would come in. He had stripped off the tux jacket, tie and shirt, and hung them by the door, leaving on the tight black tank top. He walked to the back room and stripped out of the expensive trousers and put on the black jump suit he wore for working on the cars, but kept the top hanging down around his waist, most of his tattoos naked to the eye. He changed his dress shoes for black work boots and then plugged his ipod into the speakers. The first song that came on was one of Kwan's solo songs, but as he settled in to work on the chrome Mercedes Benz he was customizing for Rika, it cycled through other hip hop flavored Korean artists and songs. He was bent over the engine, covered in grease and dirt when someone came in. He knew it was Ailee before he looked up at her, as Doki's song "Goalkeeper" came on. His blonde hair was messy and he ran a dirty hand through it to keep it out of his face as he turned towards the angry girl. And no matter how angry she was, he couldn't keep his eyes from moving over her curves in her tight black lace dress. She was dangerously gorgeous.
And then those words spilled from her lips. We Need to Talk. No one liked those words. And he still said nothing, his own anxiety rising again, just by having her here in his personal sanctuary. And then she was talking again, words pouring from her mouth. Paine let her finish and then he grabbed a towel and wiped his hands on it, before he settled against Rika's car to face Ailee, still not saying anything.
"Ailee, why do you want me?" The question was almost abrupt, but his voice was soft, his body language almost relaxed, but the stillness belied the panic attack and anxiety just below the surface.
"We barely know anything about each other, except what others have told us, or what the internet knows about you. We're from two different worlds." He gestured at the garage, which was rather clean and organized, but still a garage none the less and she stood out like a sore thumb.
"What do you want from me?" he asked softly, almost like he was afraid of the answer. "Because I can't give the girl who has everything anything."
