Thea was busy trying to swallow back the tears when she heard his growl from behind her. Even if she had been able to speak right away, she wouldn't have known what to say. Not yet, at least. Tylen hadn't said anything in technicality, but the underlying meaning was there. Maybe there were extra reasons behind her reaction, but the root of the problem was how Thea thought she was perceived.
At least, that's what she was telling herself.
"You didn't have to say it, Tylen. You said it without having to technically put the words together by accusing me of being upset because you didn't jump when I called," she finally managed, her tone tight, teeth clenched as she looked at him levelly. She wasn't even going to address the second part of Ty's statement. They both knew that was a sore spot between them, and a point she couldn't fully address. Thea didn't want to become clingy, but she couldn't shake the feeling that he was the only person who wouldn't hurt her.
Letting out her breath slowly, her shoulders relaxed a fraction at his words. She knew Tylen was right. It wasn't fair. She just didn't know how to do it. Turning slowly, she didn't step closer, afraid that if she got close then she would break into pieces. "I know. And I don't want to be one of those pathetic girls clinging all the time," she started, looking away for a moment before her eyes returned. "What do you want me to do? Leave you alone?" The words were barely above a whisper, and she found it was ore difficult to say than anything else.
