"Infirmary?" she repeated, as if trying the word out. Tori was visibly struggling, and the monitors illustrated that struggle quite audibly. It was consciousness going in and out, though Ren's face seemed to tether her for longer seconds the more he spoke. "They were wearing black. Who wears all black?" Her words were mumbled and sounded far away, as if Tori was envisioning something nobody else could see. "They just stared at me. Why wouldn't they say anything?"
Her breathing was coming faster as the memories flitted through her mind, but Ren's hand on her hair and his gentle words eased the fear starting to swarm over her. "I want to see Tay," she finally insisted, managing to roll her head to the side and fix her eyes on Ren's. Snaking her hand out, Tori searched for his own, the movement slow as her uninjured hand didn't maneuver easily.
Vi watched as her soulmate used her scent and presence to calm himself down, knowing he wanted to see his sister as badly as she wanted to see him. It made her feel better that Tay seemed to be relaxing, and by the time Ren called back to them, she could sense the change in her fiance. The doctors seemed to notice too, as they took their arms off him and let him through. Vi smiled at them gratefully as she let go of his hand, letting him walk ahead before following.
She smiled down at the younger girl, having to bite back a gasp at the horrific sight of her injuries. Tori was so beautiful, nothing could change that, but seeing all the bruising and cuts and swelling marring that skin and taking away the exuberance she usually exhibited was heartbreaking. "I'm here too, darling. We're all here for you," she spoke softly from beside Tay, smiling reassuringly to let the other girl know she had her support too.
Hearing her brother's voice, Tori managed to blink her one good eye and roll her head so she could bring him into her line of sight. She felt tears welling up, and her breathing shuddered as she shook her head. "There were so many," she murmured, coughing as the machines spiked in sound again before mellowing out.
"Don't leave me...." It wasn't clear whether she was talking to Ren or her brother, but it was obvious she needed them both.
