Ren looked up as Vi crouched down next to him. He only nodded when she told him he had done a good job. He didn't feel like he had done a good job. He felt like he had failed Tori. He dropped his eyes again until she spoke again, telling him the doctors were going to take good care of her. He had no doubt they would do their best. But he had seen the damage the attackers had done to his girlfriend. And that was only on the outside. HE couldn't help but think that it was possible that they wouldn't be able to help her. He met Vi's eyes for a moment. "You haven't seen her yet, have you?"
As if to indicate just how bad seeing the damage could be Tay was storming back over. It was the reaction Ren had expected. He knew Tay would want more information but he didn't have more information to give. He was already shaking his head as Vi tried to calm Tay down. He didn't speak again, however, until it was Vi asking him questions.
"I didn't see anything or hear anything. I heard shirks over the phone but I thought it was laughter. Clearly I was wrong on that point." His eyes were back on the floor, vaguely watching Tay's pacing feet. "Then I followed a gut instinct to go look for her. Something just felt wrong. When I found her there was no one else around."
Listening to Ren only frustrated Tay. He knew there was nothing more to be said but he hated not being able to do anything. he was pacing furiously in a large circle near by as Vi tried to coax anymore information out of Ren. He was only too sure that there was nothing to get.
"There has to be SOME way to figure out what the fuck happened!" He growled as he finally stopped pacing.
