Once it became clear that Ren was in no way responsible for the girl's injuries, the doctor's face softened. He couldn't count the times people had hurt someone then brought their victim in afterwards thanks to a delayed sense of guilt. This was obviously not one of those times, however, and the young man looked genuinely worried. There was a fear in Ren's eyes, mixed with desperation, as he described the sequence of events to the doctor. "Of course. Young ladies nowadays sound like a shrieking pack of hyenas when they get together. It is an easy mistake to make," he spoke up when the boy's gaze fell back on him. The doctor wasn't surprised to hear Ren confess to not knowing much more than that, as instances like this tended to be well-covered by the assailants.
"It's unfortunate that we don't know more, but I've seen this before. People have been highly agitated ever since Halloween and they're lashing out at anyone they can without reason." Shaking his head, the doctor looked back to watch the bustle around Tori before turning back to Ren as he asked the question that likely was plaguing his mind. The only one that mattered, really. "We're going to do everything we can. She's in good hands," he answered, careful not to make promises or commit to anything without having a chance to assess the damage or situation. "What's her name?" The doctor's question came as an after thought as he was turning back to help, and it was obvious he was trying to add a personalized touch to the young girl's treatment.
Feeling the squeeze to her hand, Vi returned the gesture without hesitation. The ring on her left hand pressed into his palm as she squeezed, reminding them both that they were not in this alone. She could feel Tay's emotions thanks to their soulmate bond, and the turmoil made her heart hurt. More than anything she wanted to fix this. All calmness aside, she could see the fear in his eyes. Tori had never been involved in the attacks that had happened before, as either Tay or Ren had always been there to protect her. Knowing something had happened that he had no control over was killing Tay.
"You did the right thing," she assured him as he confessed to not giving Ren a chance to speak much. "If she's seriously hurt, waiting for us would not be the best course of action. Time could be of the essence." Vi wasn't saying those things to hurt her fiance, of course. It would be foolish to ignore the realities of the situation. They had no idea what they could be walking into. In fact, those realities presented themselves in a glaringly harsh way as soon as the couple stepped into the infirmary. Doctors and nurses were moving at heightened speed, and it was obvious there was something going on; something of great concern.
Clutching Tay's hand tightly, Vi squeezed as she searched the chaotic room for Tori or Ren. "She's going to be okay, baby," she said quietly, knowing he would be able to hear despite all the noise happening around them.
