Tori didn't move again after consciousness slipped away, which was a blessing in disguise really. All the pain had been too much after the trauma of being caught by surprise; her brain couldn't comprehend what was happening or even everything that hurt because the sensations were too extreme. It was too much. The injuries needed attending to, but her body was shutting down in an effort to protect itself until then. Being unconscious also came in handy once Ren's arms slipped under her body and lifted her up. No amount of gentleness could prevent the inevitable jostling, and had she been able to feel it that would have worsened the agony she was already experiencing. Scary as it was, unconsciousness was good.
Still, having her limp against his chest could not have been easy on Ren. Her breathing was ragged and shaky as he hurried along, though the minute Tori was laid down in the infirmary there was a flurry of motion. The nurse who had been attending the sick student ordered someone to check on the lesser of the two priorities before calling for more help. Almost instantly, a team of doctors and nurses converged on Tori, effectively cutting Ren off from his girlfriend. After a long moment of intense activity, one stepped away from the others, moving towards Ren with a kind yet authoritative look in his eyes. "Do you know what happened? Are you family or friend?" It was obvious he wasn't trying to upset Ren further, but the answers needed to be given if possible.
As Tay started getting dressed, panic seemed to take over them both. The way he barked instructions to Ren was both calming and worrisome all at once. Vi was impressed with how composed he was in this time of crisis, but the urgent undertone in his voice scared her. Moving as he did, she quickly pulled on a pair of yoga pants to accompany the baggy shirt of Tay's she already wore. Prior to Ren's phone call, it had been the only article of clothing she was wearing. Now it looked rather ridiculous paired with her fitted pants, but she didn't care. This wasn't about appearances. The shirt could hang to her knees all it wanted. They had to get to Tori.
Vi finished just as her fiance slipped into his shoes, and she didn't need to be told before she started for the door. Instinctively, her hand curled into his Tay's, knowing he needed the comfort just as much (if not more) than she did. "Did he say anything when you called him back? What the hell happened?"
