At first, the arm around her made Tori thrash in panic. "No..." she managed, though her voice came out a garbled croak. Her mouth was too swollen, one eye blackened beyond recognition, and the swelling in her cheeks from bruising or cuts made it hard to talk. Not to mention the pain. Oh, there was so much of it. Yet some part of Tori didn't want to give up, no matter how soothing that blackness had been.
Attempting to move, a sharp stabbing in her side made her cry out. Her vision shook, and she felt consciousness slip before Ren's voice restored balance. Blinking, his face gradually came into focus, though it kept shifting and shaking; as if the signal on a television were going in and out. "Ren..." she all but whispered, crinkling her brow as it appeared he had suddenly doubled. Tori shook her head, trying to make it go away, but that only made her whimper. "It hurts..." Her words grew weaker, the hand that had been crush relaxing in his as she felt his kiss. Now this she could sleep to. And a raspy wheeze made her cough again before her eyes rolled back in her head and the blackness took over once again.
Vi, lazily reaching to grab the phone and put it to her ear, had no knowledge of the gravity of the situation. Seeing Ren's name on the screen had actually made her smile. At least until he began his panicked explanation. Vi gasped, a hand going to her mouth as she heard the faint sound of someone suffering agony in the background. "Ren?!" she shouted when she heard the phone clatter. Everything muffled then, and Vi knew he wasn't there anymore. Scrambling to her feet, leaving Tay's phone forgotten on the bed, she rushed into his bathroom without a second thought.
Pulling back the curtain to the shower, tears gathered in the corners of her eyes as her stomach rolled with fear. "We have to go....Ren...he just called. I picked up the phone..." Her words were fast, edged with panic, and the way Vi wrung her hands spoke to how she felt. It was beyond serious, and she seemed to remember she hadn't told him the point yet. "Tori's hurt, Tay. Someone hurt her. He needs our help..." Ignoring the water, though she knew Tay wouldn't need urging, she reached in and grabbed his arm. "Come on!"
