Who: Roiben and Thea Where: Her Room What: Reunited. When: 7th of June, Friday. Afternoon. Open: Tylen, if Thea wants him there/ he wants to be there. Rating: Low to moderate. Roiben had failed Thea, that was all there was to it. He'd failed and she'd been taken, injured and safely returned by someone else- not him, not her Guardian. He had reasons for not being able to protect her and return her but to him they weren't good enough- nothing was a good enough reason for what he'd done, nothing.
Roiben had been shot in the head whilst fighting to protect Thea, he'd honestly been fighting as best and as hard as he could but the silver bullet to the skull had downed him. The last thing he'd remembered was Thea's screams and knowing he'd failed her, then everything had gone black and he'd felt like he was in a void of absolute darkness. Now and again he'd feel things- a prick on his skin (that could of been a needle in the arm) and then other things- Thea. But he couldn't get out of the void. Little did he know he was stuck in a coma for over six weeks- it felt like years. If this was death, he didn't like it- he'd prefer anything to this, even the fiery pits of hell. Roiben had been found in an alleyway by another Guardian and was taken to the hospital where he'd gone into surgery to no avail other than removing the bullet and stitching him up, but the doctors refused to give up and Roiben had been put on life support. He was only alone for two days before his parents had flown in to be with him. They were in a state of shock and sorrow as they sat beside his near-lifeless body praying for a miracle. His prognosis wasn't good so a week later they'd taken him back home to a local hospital so they didn't have to transport a dead body and so his siblings could see him whilst he still had a heartbeat.
He'd continued to 'exist' in his coma for another five weeks in which time Roiben's family spent every possible minute with him talking to him, praying for him and making sure if he goes they don't have anything bad between them. His whole family took it really hard and it became so much harder when they realized that he wasn't getting any better, so his parents finally called it, they couldn't sit by his bedside and slowly watch their child die, or exist only in a limbo stage. They also couldn't afford to keep this going, so on the 27th of May his life support was turned off. But he didn't die within the first couple of minutes- he was what the doctor called a 'grasper' he was holding on for life by his nails, so instead of minutes the doctor predicted hours. Hours later he was still grasping for death even as his body convulsed and continued to fight for life. His parents sent his siblings out so they didn't have to watch his struggle, something about remembering him as what he was before this- not as he was as he laid dying. 8 hours after his life support had been turned off he went into cardiac arrest. The nurses and doctor stood at his bedside with his parents trying to numb the pain he was so obviously feeling. Roiben suddenly stopped and laid still with the machine announcing his death in a loud buzzing siren, but then the buzzing had stopped and Roiben's eyes had opened which had scared and shocked everyone in the room. He grunted and the medical professionals set to work 'fixing' him and doing everything they could to keep him alive as he laid there obviously alert and confused.
Roiben continued to improve with around the clock care but he had one huge issue. Amnesia. He couldn't remember his family at all, they looked familiar but he had no idea who they were. All he could remember was life since the alleyway where he'd saved Thea's life the first time, School, Tylen, Thea, Thea's scary sisters, Sierra, the other Guardians, training, he could even remember the attack which had landed him in here but not his family. This broke their hearts he could tell and he felt horrible, so horrible in fact that ten days after he'd woken up he had left the hospital and was on his way back to Mystic Veil. He still felt and looked like crap when he arrived back at the school two days later. No one knew where he'd gone, no one even knew he was coming back to the school.
He'd walked into the administration office and the office became a buzz of excitement and panic as they tried to work out what to do with him. He ignored all the pains in his body as he left them to do the paperwork and phone calls to let his family know where he was. He had one goal and one goal only- find out what had happened to Thea and if she was alive. He was outside her door within minutes and lent against the wall beside it as his head pounded but he forced himself to recover and knocked on the door hoping against all hope that Thea would be there.
