Thea felt awful. Rationally, she knew none of this was her fault, but she still felt responsible in many ways. It was foolish, but she couldn't help it. Ever since the attack she had been quieter, as if she were afraid it was her new attitude that had brought them upon her. Her entire perspective had changed, which wasn't surprising given how close she'd come to dying, and the way it affected Tylen only added to her unsettled feelings. It wasn't fair that he had to put up with this. If he had fallen in love with someone else then he wouldn't have to worry; he wouldn't have to feel jealous and less than worthy. And a little selfishly, Thea wouldn't have to worry about the attackers going after him next time. It was a constant state of paranoia, and Thea didn't like it one bit. She hated everything about this situation, and she felt so helpless. There was nothing that she could do to fix it, which meant she was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
After talking to Tylen, she'd gone to Roiben and proposed the idea she'd come up with. It took a little cajoling, but eventually he agreed. There really wasn't much to worry about within school grounds, though nobody fully believed that anymore after the attack last year. Her guardian knew Tylen wouldn't let her out of his sight, though, so he reluctantly agreed; making her promise to text him a few times throughout the night to ensure she was safe. Thea agreed, even though she knew she would have to keep that from Tylen initially.
It didn't take him long to get there, but it felt like an eternity to the hawk. She hated not being able to leave her room alone. Hated that she was inconveniencing the people around her. Hated the fact that she constantly had to battle her parents now, as they believed she'd be safer with them at court. Shaking her head, Thea was mulling it all over when she heard the honk outside. Scrambling off her bed, she waved goodbye to Roiben before hurrying out. She knew he'd be watching from the window, but she'd told him not to come out with her in the hopes that it would ease some of Ty's bad mood. Seeing him in the car put an instant smile on her face, though she tried not to look too giddy at her brief stint of 'freedom' and much-needed private time. Thea slid into the passenger seat slowly, closing the door behind her before turning to greet him with a kiss.
