Something was very very wrong. Emilie barely reacted when he complimented her. She wasn't the type of girl to ignore a compliment. If she didn't look so upset he would have assumed that she had decided that his option wasn't worth noticing. Though she wouldn't have been here if she had decided that.
There was a moment of silence between them. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence. They had defiantly had those before but this was different. All he was feeling was concerned. When she did start to speak it was in a voice that Brayden wasn't sure he had ever heard from her before. It concerned him even more. Brayden was confused as she berated herself. He still cared about her and he didn't like seeing her beat herself up like she was.
"Em, what are you talking about?" he asked her. His concern was more than obvious in his voice. He only hesitated for a second before he moved to wrap an arm around her shoulders. She needed comfort. He could see that much easily.
