The STRIP BLACKJACK Room!
[Baird, along with the scary-and-sexy Vamp, walk into a room, and find a Blackjack table inside and a mechanical dealer. Baird looks with interest at the robot]
The Robot begins...
"Strip Blackjack, gentlemen! Try your luck! Minimum bet, one piece of your clothes!"
And suddenly, a uni-directional force-field shuts off all exit, whilst still allowing entrance...
"You have to play three hands in order to get out of here, but you get all your clothes back when you get out."
Baird replies: "You've got to be fucking kidding. Gambling's a capital crime, asshole!"
The robot replies: "You're out of the COG's jurisdiction, Baird. Yes, we know who you are. Rules are on the wall behind me."
NOTES: Baird, Otacon and Snake each have 5 articles of clothing to be accepted as bankroll. Liquid and Vamp have 4 since, well, they both wear somewhat less clothes. 1 piece of clothing is the minimum bet per game. Any winnings in excess of a characters original bankroll are paid in liquor shots instead of clothes.
THE RULES OF BLACKJACK
The aim of Blackjack is for your cards to add up to a higher total than the dealer's cards, without your hand exceeding the value of 21. 2-10 are worth their face value, Picture cards are worth 10, and Aces are worth either 1 or 11 (depending on which is better for the player).
The game begins with the dealer dealing 2 cards to each player, plus one to himself. The dealer then, in turn, goes to each player, asking the player what s/he wants to do...
HIT: If a player hits, they get another card. If the value of their hand ever goes above 21, they "bust" and lose their bets.
STAND: The player takes no more cards.
SPLIT: If a player has a pair, they can play two hands by making an additional bet equal to their original bet. Players may resplit up to 4 hands. Resplitting and hitting split aces is permitted.
DOUBLE DOWN: On a player's first two cards (either originally OR after a split), they can elect to double their bet, but they only get one more card.
After all players have made their decisions (i.e. after they have all stood or busted), the dealer must keep hitting until their hand totals 17 or more (if it totals 17 or more, the dealer stands).
If a player's first two cards are an Ace and a Ten card, they have a "Blackjack" and instantly win irrespective of what the dealer's hand is.
If a player's hand is higher than the dealer, they win.
If a player's hand is lower than the dealer, or the player busts, they lose.
If the dealer blackjacks, players who have not blackjacked lose their original bets only. Additional wagers made for splitting or doubling are returned.
GAME PARAMETERS (in Blackjack lingo, this is not essential to know)
Single deck, BJ pays even money, all wins pay even money, No surrender, Split any pair, Resplit and hit split aces, double down any first two cards, double after split, no insurance
[OOC: If you ever see a game in real life offerring these rules, don't play it. The house edge is quite high because BJ pays 1 to 1. However, because it is a singe deck game, you can count cards quite easily, but even that may not kill off the house edge!]
