I'm keeping Rey's initial background fairly close to aligned with how she was in the The Force Awakens; with her being on a backwater planet where she was spending a significant amount of time around scrap and junk. Extremely well-versed with mechanics and ships, she eventually caught the attention of Rocket for her mechanical savvy and was offered a job. Unlike The Force Awakens, she happily took this on and traveled with Rocket as her employer for several years.
Eventually, she garnered enough wages to get her own vessel and went off on her own.
Eaarth wouldn't have been intentional as far as a destination went but she was on the hunt for something and this brought her to Eaarth as a lead (I figure looking for something seems a good route since she spends all three films trying to find a person or McGuffin). Beebee will have been with her since the scrapyard days and Pilot she grew attached to while trying to navigate Little Homeworld. I'm thinking she'll option two just because she has a history of mentally suppressing her past so....
