Varric paused, then turned and gave Thor something of an incredulous look. "No. I didn't want this," he said plainly, the esaperation and ridiculousness of the argument catching up with him, expressed in a simple sigh. "Woke up with it. My week's treat, version of you understanding these little rodents."
Still, Thunder was a jovial sort and Varric could tell his sour mood was infecting the trip. That was something he tried his best to reign in, especially during the establishing phase of any relationship or situation. The merchant sighed softly to himself, then shook his head clear of the darker thoughts as he followed dutifully.
The 'trap' was laid and Varric got decidedly more quiet as the squirrel approached, sharp eyes fixed on the tiny creature and registering the differences from the rodent-like creatures he knew. After accessing the teeth and agilit of the furry creature, the Dwarf cemented his opinion that Nugs were, at the very least, more managable.
"You wanna try asking him if he knows where the big hoarder is?" he asked under his breat, kneeling slightly beside a mossy tree. His hand opened, then only indication he was ready to grab his crossbow in the blink of an eye. "Or... I dunno. Tell 'em we mean to parlay?"
