Re: Entering the Thieves Guild (Hugh & Vax)
Hugh stopped, slipping back to his companions side as Vax sunk down to a rock. What had happened to the raven was a question he wasn't going to bother to ask. The spell had been cut off. But it did leave him with a more settled question in his mind. There had to be stories of that thing - whatever it was. Of the warlock or magician or creature that might have summoned that level of darkness, shadows that could actually consume you whole.
He snapped at his own Shadow, and the dog came back over, sticking her nose onto Vax's knee so that he could rest his hand on her head if he wished. For a moment, they both were quiet and then Hugh looked up at his friend. Notions were curling in his head, the idea of darkness summoned, and stories he'd once heard around a campfire, and he wondered if he didn't know exactly where to start looking.
"We know enough to know we need to know more," he told him. "We go back, we get better knowledge about what we might be facing, maybe even another companion, and then we come back when we have enough to succeed."
