A much-needed reunion between father and daughter, and it ain't gonna hurt your heart. Not at all.

Since they'd talked on the network, Jim could think of nothing but Eleven and how she must be doing in this place. Out of one frying pan, into another, seemingly like always since their unfortunate discovery of the Upside Down. He had to get to her now like his very life depended on it; and in a way, it did, because she brought him the life he'd always craved but was too withdrawn to talk about since the death of Sara. This kid though, she brought out those dormant feelings and made him want to be the best man he could be. To give her someone steady and loving like she deserved.
Keeping a brisk pace, his feet moved him ever forward towards the edge of the campus, heart thumping and eyes tracing every inch of the landscape for trouble. He wouldn't let absolutely anything get in the way of meeting up with his daughter. He'd rather DIE — again — than let her be hurt. Even knowing how strong she was, a piece of him wanted to enfold her in his arms to never let go.
Finally Hopper reached the right spot, ducking behind some debris that'd accumulated before the shitstorm up ahead. His lighter burned a proverbial hole in his pocket, hand fidgeting with the flint as his knee shook in anticipation.
A wide-eyed expression filled his face when he finally saw her:
"Eleven," he croaked, a watery smile stretching his chapped lips. He felt frozen, unable to surge forward like he desperately wanted to.
